For some reason I don't love those movies. I liked them a lot, but they never made me say 'wow, that movie was awesome'. I guess because they were more re-interpretations, whereas this one so far seems to be a pretty direct translation.

I guess only time will tell.

its all about personal preference. I loved X2, and think its the greatest comicbook movie. I liked Spiderman 2 a lot, but its not the best of all time in my eyes. There are a couple above it on my list. I have never read a FF comic, besides the first couple issues of the Ultimate U. I like it a lot, and I am really pumped for this movie. It sounds like its going to be great, and I imagine it being up on the level with Spidey 2 for me.

    You need to read this:
    078511063101LZZZZZZZ

and all the TPBs after it.

And Marvel Knights 4. Ever since the 9-cent issue I've been a huge Fantastic Four fan.

I think the reason the X-Men movies never really grabbed me is because I grew up watching the cartoon, and the movie is on the comletely opposite side of the spectrum. I still liked the movies, but they weren't the X-Men I know and love.

Same goes with Spider-Man, to some extent.

My only knowledge of the FF is the basic storyline and the unreleased movie. But they seem to be trying to make it pretty accurate to as much as possible, and they all seem to be pretty dedicated to it so far.

I certainly have high hopes for this movie. I guess I just love the characters, and never realized it.

yeah, i'd love to know more about the the TPBs too. You say that we should read that and everything after: how many are after it?

i also did read the first couple issues of 4, and it was indeed... AH CRAP... i keep wanting to say the word 'fantastic' in these posts, not purposely, but i feel like an ass saying it!

Well, the current Fantastic Four storylines are being collected in TPBs. I posted the first one called "Imaginauts" which starts with the 9-cent issue.

Here's the TPBs released so far in order...
    #1 - Imaginauts.
    #2 - Unthinkable
    #3 - Authoritative Action
    #4 - Hereafter

"Hereafter" goes up to #513. #516 comes out this week, so the TPBs are close to the current comic issue.

I hate the art in the regular FF comic and im nothe biggest waid fan. I like the more serious tone of "4" which is very well written for what it is and the art is of course gorgeous

Well, yeah, 4 is a bit more mature and "real-feeling."

But I like what Waid has done with FF- he's the first one to get me liking it by writing non-derivative interesting stories.

And I like Mike Weiringo. I'm surprised you don't, TH. He seems to me to be in the category of art you'd like. Oh well.

thanks for the info on those tpb's -- since i am currently 'out' of the weekly comics, i am going to try to get into more tpb's of stuff i missed out on in the past -- i'll try starting with FF, and hopefully Marvel will continue to put out tpbs, and ill be able to catch up on Spec Spidey, Aston X, Ult X, etc.
