Teleportation

In one of the RPGs on WK forums the said "You can't really teleport people halfway around the world"

Think about that...Let's say you wanted to teleport forward (i.e. in front of you) and you wanted to wind up 1 foot behind where you started, did you go forward?

Is it really transporting halfway around the world, or through the world?

If you could teleport you'd move through...dang what are those things called? Bowls or something. Anyway, the giant, flat, adjacent universes. You'd move through those until you ended up at one where it was exactly the same as your current universe, but for the fact that you're in the spot that you wanted to be in when you teleported.

I guess it's more of moving your psyche into a different you at that point, as opposed to physical teleportation.

This stuff is CRAZY!

Generally, if it were possible to breach physical planes at all, distance would no longer be a consideration.

Wikipedia - Teleportation is the process of moving objects from one place to another more or less instantaneously, without passing through the intervening space.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">And Wiki does have a lengthy entry on the subject if your curiosity persists.

"Teleportation" is a concept that was always poorly excecuted in Heroclix.

It's not just effortlessly moving THROUGH obstacles. That would be "Phasing." I always thought it was somewhat insulting for the two distinct powers to be hastily and ignorantly rolled into one single power/ability.

Teleportation is not just moving really, really, really fast, either. Teleportation has no acceleration, speed, or even vector. In fact, one could mathematically argue that it doesn't involve "movement" at all. In HeroClix, it's not really even appropriate to mandate a distance limit at all. I can understand that it would be too complicated to introduce a "real" Teleportation ability, but

Oh, wait. No, I can't. *ahem* "Give this character a power action. Place it anywhere on the map."

You wanna get into theoretical science? Kang's whole friggin' gimmick is to travel through TIME. And they give him a few clicks of Phasing? Like moving through TIME is like moving through a friggin' office chair? Hell, that's not even HSS, arguably the most valuable power in the game. What the hell does...

fuck it. nevermind

But your argument is totally flawed!
Time IS an office chair.
