SiP...

The infamous "tampon thread" is exactly what I had in mind when I mentioned controversy. It started with a discussion about one of the scenes in his book. That's why I think it was kind of hypocritical to disassociate what people were talking about on the message board from his "SiP-only" discussion board.

I guess I'd be one of the people that had hard feelings about it, except they weren't that hard. Is there such thing as semi-hard feelings?

Regarding the tampon scene: specifically, discussion was had about whether the tampon in specified scene was used or not, what brand it might've been, whether it was Katchoo's, etc. So maybe Terry did have a right to be somewhat upset about the discussion (if in fact he was), but what can you expect from comic book fans? They/we will go over each panel with a fine-toothed comb and talk about the findings.

So, can we start a tampon thread here? LOL I won't have much to contribute, I am subject to TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) which means using the little buggers is not in my best interest health wise.

I can talk alot about pads though! LOL at myself.

So when did the sip only forum get split into two again? Cause now there are two sections to it, General Discussions, which is where everyone hangs out, and Terry Moore's Works, which sees a flurry of posts around the new issue coming out, then settles for a few weeks. Was that when it moved from Terry's site to being a fan run board?

I believe they also got fed up with Hostboard at one point. Hostboard went through a complete overhaul afterwards where we lost our archives. I didn't even realize Terry's site had undergone any changes until people started showing up here. I rarely visit the official message board.

You can talk about tampons or pads here without offending anyone. Jaxom and eris moderate this forum and aren't here very often, so...

Wings or no? I've never used either because I don't have a vagina, but I've always liked the idea of wings on a pad. Like they'll fly away after you're done using them. :D

This board was created when Terry's forum was here on hostboard. Since there is only one level to the boards here on hostboard, discussion topics were intermingling with book topics and it was getting unweildy in addition to tampons etc. So STP was born.

Awhile back, hostboard was having many outages while they moved to a new server, things were flaky for about a month. Fearing people would see the forum in the comic and get a broken url, Maida, the moderator for Terry's board moved the board to I believe her server, but could be wrong about that.

Awhile back, Maida could no longer host the forum, so a poster voluntered to take it on and that is the forum you are now on.

This board tends to become a refuge when various incarnations of the SIP board go down.

Raine---Although some folks here do keep up with the SIP board, some of us don't, so if your SIP board has gone into a split, a lot of us aren't aware of it (but probably not surprised by the news). And I'd think it's fair to say that it's not a knock against Terry or SIP in general, but it's more a case of real life happening to us and SIP just got pushed to the back burner. Or thrown on the fire, 'cause I think there's at least a couple people who didn't like the way the story was going (or other reasons) and stopped reading it altogether. As for me, I started going back to school about the time Cherry Hammer came on the scene and learning to deal with schoolwork, along with having 4 kids, kinda took up my comic book time, so I really have no idea what's going on in comicland right now. I'm sure I'll play catch-up later on, but comics and SIP just aren't on my list right now.

crazy, ever since Maida moved the forum off Hostboard, the comics forum and chat forum have been on the same board. That board was split into two or three sections to keep the conversations separate. I think that is what raine is talking about. The Post Hostboard people have comic/chat in the same place, but here it had to be separated.

That is indeed what I meant. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, I was just curious.
