Hey, all:
Something I'm wondering after reading #45 is how much we (as readers, as letter-writers, as posters to this board) influence the storyline of the comic. For example, we've been going on and on about how David should leave Katchoo, and finally - shazam! - he's gone!
Okay, okay, that could be coincidence, or something we just saw coming...but we've also seen this in the issue...43?...where Ashely is presenting her novel to the New York publisher, and she (the editor) was saying things that have been coming out of fan's mouths for years.
Or maybe I'm imainging all of this. Thoughts?

I think it is pure coincidence.
I think that Terry has set plans for this book. To think that we has fans have any clout whatsoever is unrealistic. I am sure that Terry respects our right to complain about, lavish praise on, twenty-one gun salute, suck-up to or brown-nose his efforts, but remember this is HIS story. NOT ours.

I think Ashley's editor's comments were a way to poke fun at of all the criticism. Kind of an inside joke to those of us who have posted the same thing over the years.
While I think Terry takes heart of the things we say, it's his story and I think he writes it as he sees it, regardless of us (though mindful of how we'll react).

In an interview in Indy in 1995, Terry said "...if you let the fans influence it, well then it's not your book anymore, is it? ... What you get is Spider-Man, that is created by committee. I have to work in the opposite method. I am sure that for mainstream books if 85% of the letters said "C'mon, give him his titanium back," or whatever, then it happens."
So I don't think we get to vote on Jason Todd.

Well, I definitley don't think that the readers have any control over the storyline. As mentioned earlier, the issue with Ashley talking to her editor was more of a joke than anything. As far as David leaving, that was a inevitable. There's only so long someone can exist in that type of relationship without going away. David was probably way past that point already.
