I spent yesterday and today rereading all of SIP. I made it as far as the Sanctuary TP, when it clicked what was wrong with issue #43.
Seeing the joy that Francine when she saw Katchoo again, feeling the terror when Katchoo refuses to answer what happened to David, Terry you acheived a difficult task. I believed in these characters. Some part of me expected to be able to look up Choovanski in the Houston phone book and get a listing.
With issue #43, you completely threw that away. Even if this whole thing turns out to be a dream of Francine's, I don't know if it will be as easy to buy into the characters when they have been portrayed as characters in a book. You drew attention to their fictional nature after spending years writing a work that let us ignore that. Regardless of what happens to the plot, that move might not be undoable.
