SIP 44 Shipping info...

Do all comic book stores get new shipments in on Wednesday? Mine certainly does (and they are open late on weds nights for that reason). Is this just tradition or does it have to do with shipping logistics?

ok, I am bad fan. I am going to pick up issue #43 tomorrow. Although that might not be a bad thing...'cause then I will only have one week to wait for #44....there might be something to this....Halloween. Hot cider, chocolate, and a new SIP issue...somehow I think my loved one will find me strangely distracted. hehehehehehe. so wrong, i feel all giggly when i know i get to pick up a new SIP issue..

Wednesday is the offical ship date for all comics sent by Diamond Comics Distributions. The day has changed at least 2 times since I have been collecting, and they may push it back to Thursday soon. Diamond ships the books by UPS to ensure everyone gets them the same day.

YES and no Darth...it's possible to make arrangments with Diamond if the store is wiiling to go that extra mile...I get my books on Tuesday...heh heh heh...

Well, yes, if you pick them up yourself from the distribution center, you can get them in the door on Tuesday, but you aren't supposed to put them on the shelf until Weds....unfair business practices and all that. I have heard of people doing it, but Diamond would have a coniption if they found out about it. Some Chicago stores did it with the Death of Superman and DC got muy pissed, not to mention the stores that didn't.

Yo Oz! As far as Thursday delivery goes, I don't care much myself, it would only affect me the first week when I had to wait the extra day. However, many retailer are trying to stoip the change because of re-orders. My local store can re-order something on Wed afternoon it its selling fast, and have restock on Friday. If they move to Thursday, that means he has to go the entire weekend without product and get his restock on Monday.
