    Private Beach
    Breakfast After Noon
    Knights of the Dinner Table
    Blue Monday
    Akira
    Sandman
    Sleeping Dragons
    Herobear and the Kid
    Zoom's Acamdemy

Lessee... Besides SIP, obviously, we've got:

-Eagle: Making of an Asian-American President (if you haven't checked this out yet, and are at all into political drama, get it immediately. If not sooner.)
-Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha, essentially anything Rumiko Takahashi touches
    -Gunsmith Cats
    -Futaba-kun Change
    -Preacher
    -Transmetropolitan
    -Lucifer
    -100 Bullets
    -Akira
-any Clerks comics or anything by Jim Mahfood: for a pothead, the man's a genius
    -Blue Monday
    - :Older trades: Swamp Thing, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Thieve's World
    -El Hazard
-Ultimate X-Men and New X-Men (I had given up on X-Titles, and Marvel for that matter, but they've actually started writing these titles well again!)
    -Poison Elves
    -Shadow Reavers
And right now, I'm reading through Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom of Landover series... A full plate that makes an effort at clearing out my wallet on a weekly basis

    Pajkub,

I am almost certain Vess did the artwork for "Stardust". The delicate nature of the illustration really fit with the story, and reminded me of Rackham's work a bit.

    Hi smile

Charles Vess is the one who illustrates ?Stardust? and it is mind numbing how good it is. I read ?Stardust? before my comic days as a novel, and then as a graphic novel post-comics, and the pictures just present a whole other story to it. Anything involving fairies and Charles Vess usually rocks.

I?m relatively new to SiP (haven?t finished a few of the TPB?s yet.. silly online shipment), but it is clearly one of the most amazing comics I?ve ever read. Other than that, I?ve enjoyed:

Sandman (the first comic book I ever read ? it?s the equivalent of ?Shakespeare? of comic books in classicness, @ least in my opinion)
    Barry Ween
Liberty Meadows (there?s a wiener dog!)
Bone (love the fantasy element, as well as the cuteness factor)
    Paradise Too
    Shades of Blue
Rose (Charles Vess + Bone = excellent, so far)
    Scary Godmother
    Castle Waiting
?and I think that?s all for now.

I love SiP so much because it?s ?theatrical? and challenges the medium ? and tells a great story at the same time. So most of the comics I tend to read either do that sort of thing or are just cute.

    -jessie.

wow, thanks so much for the replies! Now I have something to check out while I'M STILL WAITING FOR ISSUE #44 TO ARRIVE!!!! ARGH, IT'S TORTURE! Anyway, I've really appreciated all of the tips...i think I'm going to check out Bone and Elfquest first. They're both titles I've heard many times, so it's about time I check 'em out!

The only books I pick up regularly besides SiP are Steampunk, Liberty Meadows, and the Punisher. Other than these books, anything with the names Frank Miller, Kevin Smith, Neil Gaiman, or Simon Bisley attached will always get picked up.

My "Most Anticipated Next Issue" Award right now goes to Hopeless Savages. I love this story and wish they would make it a regular series.

Otherwise I like Love & Rockets, Spider-Girl (the closest thing to an SiP-type story that Marvel has to offer), Patrick the Wolf Boy and Evil Eye.

I used to go absolutely nuts over Optic Nerve and have all the issues plus the 32 Stories collection. But I reread them a couple of months ago and now for some inexplicable reason I absolutely loathe Adrian Tomine. I can't explain it. I think the art is tediously understated, and I think the writing is nauseatingly self-absorbed and utterly devoid of meaning. It's like everything I used to love about it, I now hate. Isn't that wierd?

    take care

Who does the art for that? Charles Vess? I read the novel and thought it was pretty good, but I think it would be tops illustrated.
