    After a few years without, Harris is relaunching the classic Vampirella in September with the previously mentioned Vampirella: Revelations #0 with a $0.25 cover price. The issue will also debut at next month?s Comic Con International: San Diego.

    Written by Mike Carey, with a Joe Jusko cover, and art by Mike Lilly and Bob Almond, the 16-page Revelations #0 is aiming to invigorate Vampirella for her readership. As the solicitation for the issue (currently posted on the Diamond website) reads:

    From the creative minds of Mike Carey and Mike Lilly comes the re-imagined tale of comics' most sultry vampire in Vampirella: Revelations. As vampires gather to share stories over pints of blood, one story holds their attention spans more than any other. Hushed whispers and sidelong glances surround one name whispered: Vampirella.

    Is she a myth, legend, or something more than any of them could possibly understand? This and much more will be answered as Carey weaves a gritty tale of intrigue and revelation that will redefine Vampi for a new generation, while still paying tribute to her elaborate past. Old friends return, forgotten enemies strike, and Vampirella will come to finally realize her true identity.

    For years, Vampirella has been re-launched in a number of different ways, by creative teams that have taken her from Top Cow crossovers all the way into the future in Vampi. But Vampirella: Revelations #0 brings the femme fatale back to roots as dark as her flowing locks, and puts the noir aspect back into the story. All of this at a special introductory price of 25?!

    The long awaited Vampirella relaunch kicks off in September, when Vampirella: Revelations #0 hits the stands with a 25-cent cover price. The zero issue will contain a seven page prelude story, featuring four "alternate visions" of Vampirella as seen through the eyes of her enemies. The rest of the issue will feature creator interviews about the Revelations miniseries and supplemental material.
    I?ve been told that Vampirella: Revelations #1 will be coming out in November. It?s going to be a ten issue miniseries, which will ?redefine? Vampirella. The miniseries will be comprised of four short story arcs by different creative teams. The first creative team will be Mike Carey, Mike Lilly (Nightwing), Bob Almond (Black Panther) and Jay Fotos (Sam and Twitch). That team will be on issues # 0 through 3. Issues 4 and 5 will be written by Christopher Priest, Jay Faerber comes onboard for issues 6 and 7 and John Rozum will finish it off in issues 8 through 10.

    November 9 is V-Day: Vampirella Revelations #1 debuts with covers by Gonzalez and Texeira!
    New York (September 1, 2005) - This November 9, Vampirella Revelations #1 kicks off the epic maxiseries event that redefines Vampirella forever! To celebrate, the issue sports two covers representing the best of the character's artistic heritage. Jose Gonzalez, hailed as Vampirella's greatest artist, returns with his first cover in decades. Mark Texeira pays tribute to the original Vampirella #1 with a modern re-imagining of that book's classic cover. The issue is available to order now in September Previews.

    ?The era of the so-called 'bad girl' is over. Done. Dead,? says Harris Comics editorial director Bon Alimagno. ?Sure, she'll still be easy on the eyes. But now when you think Vampirella, think horror, think epic fantasy, think of stories that'll make you laugh and cry and shiver all at once. Long-time fans will remember that's the way Vampirella was. Now that's the way she will be again. Yet, even if this is your first Vampirella comic you won't be lost, really you're getting in on the ground floor! Whether you've been a Vampi fan for five years or thirty-five years, this book's for you.?

    Written by critically acclaimed writer Mike Carey (Lucifer, Hellblazer) with gorgeous art by rising star Mike Lilly (Nightwing), the book is the first in a three-part arc streamlining Vampirella's origin and reshaping her character.

    Coming out of the events of September's Vampirella Revelations #0, Vampi's confused and desperate for answers. She turns to a mystic to unravel the tangled threads of her origin. He takes her on a journey to hell and back, deep down into the murky waters of her past -- her real past. What she finds brings her face to face with her mother, her home, and the very moment of her birth.

    Issue #1 is full length, full color and ships with two regular covers that may be ordered separately, one by Texeira (SEP052711) and one by Gonzalez (SEP052712). For collectors, each cover will also be available as a Limited Virgin Edition with no logo or text obscuring the art (Texeira Edition under SEP052713; Gonzalez Edition under SEP052714). The series will be supported by coverage on major pop culture newssites and in leading comics and horror magazines including Rue Morgue and Fangoria.

    Review by ComiXtreme!

    4/5 Stars!

    Silverbulletcomicbooks review....5 outta 5 !!!

    wat gave uitsneden:

    The object of the writer and artist is to show pain not an excuse for Vampirella's body.

    In the next panel, the demon cracks the whip against Vampirella's back. The skimpiness of Vampirella's traditional costume should emphasize her attributes, but the pose chosen by Lilly is neither sexy nor sensual, and you can clearly see the pain expressed by the character. Lilly captures the scene's entirety.
    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">
    This is a stunning display of Vampirella's strength, visually represented by a taut musculature and accented in such a way that actually conceals her breasts and her experience and intelligence in battle.
    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">
    Despite Vampirella wearing the scantest uniform of any super-hero ever created there is no hatred for womankind or sexism in Revelations. Instead, readers find one of the few still resonant, still capable, still impressive characters created in the silver age.
    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">In hierin zie je goed dat een GOEDE reviewer verder kijkt dan the obvious!!
