I just read on cinematography.com that Fuji single 8 is going belly up.I'm sure those proud owner/users of ZC 1000's are going to to be looking for alternatives.Someone should/could offer respooling single 8 carts with a stock of choice. What's the scoop here?

The person to talk to is... Tak Kohyama at retro-8 enterprises Retro-8

If I'm not mistaken; if Kodak film was loaded into the Fuji-Single-8 cassettes probably significantly less film would actually fit because the Single-8 estar based film was thinner than Kodak film.

<font size="2" face="verdana, sans-serif">Yes, that is true.I do know from old articles in Super 8 Filmmaker, that it CAN be done, yielding about 35 feet of film in a 50 foot cart. Some stocks can be ordered in Estar base from Kodak, though I don't know if it could be cost effective to slit 35mm down for such a niche market. That according John Pytlak from Kodak.A very large order would be needed. Not sure if enough single 8 film could be sold to make it worth while for someone.

Yet still, there are few cameras that can do what a Fujica ZC 1000 can.

While 13,000 carts a year may not be enough for Fuji,it could work for a smaller outfit. The people at Supermag could offer a modification to the ZC 1000 to accept a version of their 400 foot mag.You could use any stock you want on long lengths.

    hi,

what's the lowdown on this news please - is it official - will there be no more Single8 film, no more processing?

i may add, it's not what i picked up at all - was told Single8 was alive and well 'around the Pacific rim'
