(cue the twilight zone music) I left my super-8 camera on my all metal tripod complete with it's all metal adapter plate, the camera switch was in the off position. After about two weeks time I noticed a trail of battery corrosion going from the outside of the camera and growing alongside the bottom of the plastic camera handle.
There was only a very light amount of corrison on the inside of the camera handle where the batteries reside. Probably around 95% of the corrosion was completely on the outside of the camera.
(fade out the twilight zone music before I am assessed a charge for prompting people to think of the music and hear it in their mind without paying for it.)

Yeah, I took the batteries out. I normally have access to tripods that have plastic interfaces. This was the first time I have ever left one on a tripod with a metal interface. The bottom of the camera has that metal screw mount, so I guess there is some kind of metal circuit going from the inside where the batteries were to the outside where metal was.
I never have seen that before.
The irony is I think the batteries are still fine. (cue that twilight zone music)
