FOREWARD
The Hero's Journey (also known as the Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.
THE HERO's JOURNEY IS THE CHARACTER ARC:
The Hero's Journey (Monomyth) is all about Transformation.
The Character Arc is simply a basic representation of this Transformation. The 188 stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth) is, in effect, a detailed extrapolation of the Character Arc.
For example: the Character Arc unfolds along the lines of:
a) Limited Awareness. This correlates with the Hero in his Ordinary World and Ordinary Self.
b) Increased Awareness. This correlates with the Hero at the Stage of the Call to Adventure.
c) Reluctance to Change. This correlates with the Hero at the Stage of the Refusal of the Call.
d) Overcoming. This correlates with the Hero at the Stage of the Overcoming of the Refusal of the Call.
