    Question

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a camera that is good for Stop-Motion filmmaking.
I don`t own a camera yet and don`t know much about cameras, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone!

When you're doing stop-motion animation, the best type of camera to use is a film camera instead of a video camera. Most super 8mm movie cameras can record one frame at a time and video cameras cannot. Super 8 cameras on ebay cost between $5-450 and the film comes in simple cartridges that you can buy from Kodak for $10. Super 8 is definitely the way to go!

    Good luck,
    Corey

a use a bolex for stop motion work. It is a 16mm film camera that has the ability to shoot one frame at a time. You can rent one at a local rental house for cheap. You could probably purchase one on ebay for not too much as well.

I tried a bolex once.....I found the metal remote control cable could actually make the camera move!

How do you prevent that from happening.

Ideal Super8 camera is the new Quarz Super 8 camera, which retails at about ?179 from the Widescreen Centre. This camera has a very good lens on it for sharp pictures.

Stop motion is my favorite kind of filmmaking, and super-8 is an interesting and quite flexible format for trying innovative special effects via stop-motion.
