I'm planning to copy some of my super8 shorts sending them for making contact copies. Anybody have tried this? There's an important loss of resolution, colour,...?

    Thanks!

I'm planning to do it at www.andecfilm.de . They also make blow-ups to 16 mm and many other services. I'm still deciding if it's more convenient (refering to picture quality) to make a blow-up instead of a super8 copy, but I'd love to have some of these shorts duplicated.

expect a bit higher contrast. it doesn't always look like the original. it depends on what the original filmstock is and how old it is. sometimes it's an improvement, in a paintery kind of way. where are you planning on getting prints? i think Yale has stopped offering this service.

    Hallo.
The print material for Super 8 can be used,is only
special designed Ektachrome material. So you have
only the quality of Ektachrome. That is in fact,
that you loose contrast, sharpness and color saturation. In fact of this the prints from Andec are very good, as i have seen some. The most better quality you can reach, doing a 16 mm Internegative and then print back to Super 8.
These prints are nearly your original. But it is very more expensive and you can only do it, if you have enough money or you need some prints.
    best regards
    Ingrid

    Thanks Ingridw,

I will think about the 16mm possibility.
