Thanks BolexPlus,

i have yet to experience the happy day i can run a film through dv whilst losing the flicker, however i recently shot 50 feet at 18fps and am eager to project this through the Chinon (3 blade shutter), and see what luck i have?

i am now getting reasonable results by filtering footage through VirtualDub anti-flicker freeware, but what you gain in stability you sacrifice in picture quality - it is a trade-off.

yes it can be a very frustrating hobby - i almost deleted 100's of ?/$ worth of software recently, instead of sleeping on the problem. when i awoke i realised the awful mistake i had narrowly avoided making, due to sheer frustration, really: that was the crisis and turning point in using cyber filters (touch wood!)

the mega step forward has been introducing 1 square inch piece of ground glass into the Chinon, between the lamp (house) lens and aperture gate, which has greatly diffused the 'hot spot'.

thanks,
