Does anyone know where I can buy a blimp for a 7008? If not, do you know a person that might be able to make a nice custom one? I love my 7008. I just wish it was quieter. Thanks

Well, her I am, after a renewed registration.

Souper 8, I have no 6008 or 7008, but a 5008 ms, which is very quiet. The plastic versions were supposed to be quiet because of the plastic. So I'm suprised about you complaining about the noise of the 7008. There are several thing which can help. First is having your camera serviced. Some 5008's are very noisy, but are no longer after having being serviced. For a 4008 I once made a barney of leather, a rubber bathrug and corduroy. I made a jacket for the camera (by lying the on a news paper first and drawing the shape of the camera with a pencil on the newspaper. Then cutting the shape out, and cut the corduroy, leather and bathrug out after drawing the shape on it) I sewed the corduroy and the leather to a sleeeve after which I put the bathrug in and closed the sleeve.

    It helped.

    Sorry about the english.

A blimp is often made of plexy glass, I think. No idea how you would stick plexiglass together. If I new how to, I think I might make one oneself, if I needed one.

Ahhh, I see I'm not the only one who has read the Broadski & Treadway Super 8 book!

An excellent source, and the directions you mention for barney's is actually very good.

Soft ones with tons of padding work much better than hard blimps.

I credit a very long phone conversation with Toni Treadway in 1996 with my now 6 year obsession with Super 8. Haven't received any Newsletters for a long time, I hope they are doing well.

Do Broadski & Treadway have a website?
I've been looking for it, but can't find it (if there is one).

    Hello
pro8mm sells one for aroun one thousand dollars.
    Especially made for the 7008.
My 7008 also makes alot of noise. I think all it need is to get serviced. I hope.

I beleive my 7008 is running fine. It is just a little louder than Konton's Nizo 6080. I think a thousand dollars might be a bit much for a blimp. I might just end up making a barney for it. I researched sound dampening materials and Cascade Audio seems to have pretty good products. The Gatorback foam might be just the right type of material for a good barney.
Huaza, since you are in the LA area also, maybe we could hook up and compare our 7008 cameras sometime.

I don't think Pro8mm still offers the blimp for sale, only for rental. One went on ebay last year and the final price was over $800!

Hey souper8 , yea that would be cool.
I have mine at pro8mm in Burbank right now, but should be getting it back in like a week if all goes well.
    It needed a checkup.
I live in Huntington Beach but I study at the LACC cinema department, so I go every day to LA.
    Lets keep in touch.
    Where is Cascade Audio?
