Got a question for some of you more experienced lighting geniuses...

I'm making a 1/6 scale set with a guy (G.I. Joe-type) passed out on a couch, (from alcohol, though that's not important)...

Anyway, I want the viewer to get the idea that the TV is on...you don't see it, just the lighting from it...would a blue gel over a 250 W light convey this effect?

Yeah, I'd think that would do it. Are you doing this stop motion or is this shot in real time? If real time, then I would vary the light rapidly using a dimmer to simulate different images passing by on the screen. If stopmotion, then I would still use a dimmer and randomly change the level slightly for each frame. I've done the same thing for animated fire light and it works great.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm going to try it both ways -- real time and stop-motion and edit in the sequence that looks most realistic...
