Hey everyone-
I was looking for some Kodachrome 40 the other day and I ran across a place in Europe that sells it, including processing, for 12 US dollars. I had to convert it from Euros, obviously.
So what am I missing. It sounds too good to be true. The cheapest processing I can find in the US is 9 bucks a pop!
Thanks for any help-
Jared

This is the normal European price incl. processing in Lausanne and mailing inside Europe. You send the film to your local Kodak lab in your European country, paying national shipping costs. Kodak forwards it to Lausanne (Swiss) and after 10..14 days you receive your processed roll for free in your home.
Dealers with trade a bigger amount of films usually offer the rolls for 11...13 Euros (last year for under 10 Euros!!!), warehouse departments and photo shops take over 16 Euros. Good sources are Wittner (good price only when buying a huge amount), Bavaria Film (price don?t depend on the number of films) and Rinser.

$12 is too much. i get my k40 for the equivalent of $9, including processing, from kodak in sweden. sure, that's with a student discount, but it's still only $11 without that. and you don't have to be a student to get the discount, trust me. :-)

So does this mean if I order the film from Australia I can use the enclosed mailer and send it to Kodak in New Jersey?

i don't know if you can, but you can try. my sales contact is irene sandstr?m, who is not my mother, cousin or whatever those of you who know my last name might suspect. :-) she can be reached at [email protected]. don't mention me please, in case she doesn't like getting foreign orders on her desk for some reason.

Robert,
I'm not sure on that, I guess call Kodak.
Perhaps you could split with some other film makers on the costs. You can buy 40 rolls for $16.70Aus including processing.
That's about 8.50 a roll in $US (including processing)
I reckon the only place cheaper would be duty free in Jakarta!?
But that's another story, may be a film epic!!

I would be willing to do a bulk order like that with other people. maybe like 6-8 rolls for my self, if others wanted in and it was possible
