Sort of mutating an earlier thread, let's try this:
Pitch us all a film you would produce for $100 dollars or less.
Let's assume you already own the following:
1) Very basic, non-synch sound Super 8 camera (ala Bell and Howell 1200 series, Sankyo Sound, etc.)
2) Tripod
3) Editor/Viewer
4) Projector
5) The little stuff: reels, leader, splicing tape, etc.
You can acquire crew, cast, locations, additional supplies, etc. through any plausable means you wish to utilize. But don't assume you've got them, tell us how you'd go about. Any length, genre, final format, sound track or no, whatever you want, just remember, you have only $100.00.
What would you make with those resources and how would you do it?
And, I know everyone here is more than respectful of others' work, but just as a formality, let's say that any ideas posted on this thread will be considered the property of the poster.
I know it can be done, one just has to a little creative tweaking with the process, so let's hear some pitches.

2 rolls of Kodachrome--20.00
1 Minidisc--1.50
BetaSP tape 15.00
Rank Xfer for 75.00 by begging of and saying it was for some tests.
Shoot landscapes and other non-actor related stuff that would fit with a voice over narration.
I know I am a bit over but oh well. Good Luck

Maybe you could steal the videotape. Anyway, good start.

Maybe, but for only being a 1.50 over I won't sweat it.

Well I filmed my friend Caitlin's entire body in macro (Beaulieu w/extension tubes and a 75mm Angenieux lense) and I think it came out to about $100. I hand processed some of the film so that helped.

I take it you didn't send your film to Yale then?

Caitlan's a woman, I take it? This sounds like an intriguing film!

Yes, Caitlin's a dancer, she has a curvy body so it was ummm...easy. We even used honey...oh, never mind.
No, I didn't send it to Yale (whew!), but I did show it at the Institute of Contemporary Art this summer.

I would shoot surfers at my local surf break doing what surfers do ?surfing, goofing around, skateboarding to the beach with their boards, and whatever. I would try to get longboarders and shortboarders, young and old, females and males? etc. I would add voiceovers of them explaining what attracts them to surfing.
Not too original an idea but I think I will try it sometime soon (except that I won?t limit my budget that much).
I just hope I can get sincere interviews without a lot of corny junk. I don?t like documentaries where the filmmaker tries too hard to show how great or how bad something is. I like to be informed of what something is without the qualitative fluff so I can decide for myself whether I like it or not.
