i have a really simple bell and howell microstar z that i've shot several rolls of film on, and all of a sudden i get a roll back thats all black... i dont know if there's some common problem i'm not aware of or what? also, i was curious about perhaps altering the shutter angle for more blur in my frames. I just want to experiment with different processes...anything out of the ordinary i can do. is this possible with super 8? i'm not even sure if these are appropriate topics for the board, but i'll give thanks aplenty for any advice.

I'm not familiar with that camera, but if it lets you vary the shutter angle, that is probably why you have black frames.
You may have accidentally shut the shutter.
Incidentally, cameras have a maximum shutter, and the variability that they give you will make the image sharper, not more blurry.
Look at some of the film Traffic to see what this looks like. (Using a narry shutter, I mean).
They also did this in the intro fight scene in Gladiator, as well as using 8fps and 12fps frame rates, and others.
