Has anyone made a Matte box for a Canon 1014 XLS? I was thinking of trying to modify one from a nizo, but wanted hear some other ideas first.

    Thanks

    Brian,
I own a 814xls and have been thinking about a matte box also. I also own a canon XL1 dv cam. The XL1 has a nice clip on square sun shade. I have been considering using that shade and a cokin fiter holder for still photography to construct a matte box.

The idea would be to attach the XL1 sun shade to a rail. The rail would attach to the camera. The cokin filter holder could be attached to the sunshade through a series of step up rings and still be able to rotate to accommodate grad filters/polas.

I would like to be able to use some grad filters. I am not sure that the Nizo matte box allows for the use of any commonly availabe square filters.

    Just some thoughts.
