    Question

I'm off in exactly a week to direct my first feature in Portugal.

    Any advice?

Wel,l as is the case with most things in life, the gig is self engineered.

I've spent the last 6 months writing the script, securing the locations, casting, crewing, booking flights, cars, ringing rental houses, talking to production companies etc etc.

The crew is Irish. Thankfully the rental houses and labs have a couple of people who speak English so thats cool.

The DOP is over there now picking up the gear and stock in Lisbon. The rest of us fly out on tuesday morning...crew of 9 cast of 4.

    Remember:
any more than 17 setups in a day is ridiculous, the average for a good crew is around 12. why do new directors think they can do sixty or more in a day?! (of course the rules change if you're using natural light ....)

    and 12 on, 12 off.

not being prepared is being prepared to fail yadda yadda

    stay frosty

Fuck yeah. You're a director now. Post the first three pages of the screenplay here so we can tell you whether or not you should worry at all.

    Enjoy your stay there.

    Cheers Lads.

The budget is about ?30000 or ?20209. Most of it went on equipment rental, stock and proccessing. Other big expenses were flights and car rental.

Theres a lot of natural light involved. A few nightshoots as well, car clamp stuff and underwater shots. A good mix. One of the best things is that crew and cast essentially wake up on set every day.
