YouTube - A Fair(y) Use Tale
Pretty interesting. 14 years probably was too short, but lifetime + 70 years is pretty ridiculous and is obviously one of those things designed to keep the aristocracy in their priveliged positions.

Don't even get started with this one.
Copyright in the USA has gotten out of hand. I'm all for protection and being able to control your work while getting rewarded for your efforts.
Until we get the US congress and the courts to say otherwise then my guess is that copyright will only get extended. At least in the USA we have copyright written in to the Constitution as a legal right. Which would mean that taking it away would be pretty damn hard to do.
Good Luck and fun video.

It's a fine balance. It's clear Disney's Steamboat Willy would've been quashed by lawyer's in todays climate, and the filmmaking capital of the world would've been built around wherever Lumiere decided to start a studio.
Death + 50 seems reasonably fair to me. Forever ... seems like a long time to lock an idea away. Think of all those great films based on books of dead authors that might never have been made due to the lawyers playing frickin golf all day.
