Giving the current state of the board, dragging this up felt apt.

People continue to fail at an alarming rate.

To be fair, given the state of the film industry I'm not exactly shocked that a board like this is drying up (albeit slowly, it's been around WAY longer than most manage).

Recently, my efforts have been diverted away from filmmaking and more into how we can destroy the Northern Film School.

Seriously, people. A bunch of inept, corrupt motherfuckers. If you, or anyone you know, is considering applying for it, do everything in your power to stop them.

But, despite the NFS seemingly trying to destroy my soul, I have just finished my first film on super-16. I'll make a thread about it.

I'm not failing. I'm just deferring success until tomorrow.

I'd never seen this thread until just now. It really is kind of depressing but it's also kind of inspiring. Almost like a 'we're vastly outnumbered' speech right before a battle.

Incidentally, have you guys ever heard the statistic, I think from the DGA, that said there are just over 400 members who are in regular employment?

That figure really scared me. Just think how many people want to be directors and how many actually make it.

    wow some good analysis there.
Coffee films makes some good points.

Probably about right. I used to come here a lot, but then I finished the film I was working on and my day job got much busier - and it pays money - sure is a good motivator.

There is a lot of all or nothing in film making. I didnt know how to pace myself, still dont. Want it all NOW. Thats not how the real world works (most of the time). Besides taking almost 10 years to make one poxy film creates a certain amount of burn out. New Ideas anyone? Not me.

This forum was a great motivator for me, and helped me get my project done. Made some good contacts and am more than Greatful to a lot of you.
Now when the time comes around again, I have loads of experience to put into it, but to make it a profession? Strewth.
Dont care enough. Rather see what others manage to make, and dabble, and put my efforts into something that pays money. Let someone else steer the ship, and work for the man. Let him take the flack, not me. I want to have fun. Perhaps the wind will change. Until then good luck one and all.
