I know the majority of people here are from outside the US, but I'll bring it up anyway.
I have a chance to attend the Hollywood Film Institute's traveling roadshow (ie Dov Simens "2Day Film School") and was wondering if anyone here had any opinions on it? If I wasn't able to attend for free, I wouldn't consider going, but has anybody actually attended one of these 2 day seminars? Cull anything useful or worthwhile?

If you do a search for Dov Simens on IMDB.com guess what you'le find...

    Nothing

Dov Simens is just another Hollywood snakeoil salesman.Yeah, He know's a "few things" but in reality He's never produced. directed or made anything other then His "traveling" film-school schstick.

Save your money is all I can say.

What money? This particular seminar is being sponsored by our state film commision, so it's free... I mentioned that in the first post, which apparently you didn't read fully...
I was asking if anyone had any experience with these seminars, so I would know what to expect

LOL save your money. But it's free! And the worst that'll happen is he'll have to leave in the middle of the show. The best is it'll be pretty cool. I'd take the chance.

What do you mean he has nothing on the imdb.com?

In reality the imdb.com is a very UNRELIABLE resource. It is created and maintained by fans, not by researchers.

Hell, I even stuff posted on there... All you do is send an e-mail and they'll put it up... imdb.com is very good if the person you are researching is super famous, but other than that... do NOT trust it!
