    Hey this is mostly me.

27 years old, work in IT.
    Funding my own production.
    Use office time and equipment.
Have a book by my bedside about filmmaking.
    Have 2 cats.

    But.

The director I aspire to be like is me.
    I am married.
I dont drink, so dont go to pubs (This leaves me with more money to spend on filmmaking equipment).

Thats me ! Breaking the mold.

Don't have a cat of my own, but I do work in IT for a finance company. (out in France at the moment, looking forward to getting back and getting on with some work).
Have two books on shot format and structure sitting beside my bed.
    Single.
    Paying my own way.
Write my scripts and browse this forum at work (and at home).
Would love to direct any "Star Wars" film.
Unfortunately, all bills paid and no ccj's.
Also, I write novels as well. Four so far, though none published.

Certain common threads abound, don't they.

    yup....

    -IT job
-Paying for it all hook line and sinker in more ways than one....
    -Sleep like a baby
-Go to the pub????? when do you get time for that???
    -Thank god for work equipment
    -30 (30 ???? already???!!!)
    -Under the thumb
-Read this flippin forum all day at 'work'
    -Have about 5
    -Terry Gilliam
    -I am 'directing' it....
    -Yep
-Have a book full of notes
-Cat died of diabetes. My girl friend has one though. (not diabetes, a cat)
-Somehow they get paid (but who pays them?)

Shows savvy: IT jobs pay well. Get that the job thing sorted out and then get on with what you want to do (shame it took so bloody long)

    I know it - I'm just a stereotype.....

kind of depressing this thread that there is a stereo type which can be branded

well for originality stakes im now going to create my own language , dye my skin blue and my hair pink and walk aorund with a puppet called mr.flibble

and for the pier de resitance my main claim in the originality department is im going to make my future films with No camera or crew or cast or set. just have them in my head and call myself a director - wait a minute that sounds familiar
