FILM IS NOT ART ?

Thank you, Alex. Very kind of you.

Ever since I became confident in my intentions and ability as a filmmaker, I've not been a fan of the term "art." Probably because it has never been a specified term; it can mean a million different things to anyone.

I do not call myself an artist. I do not say that I create art. Although some people may agree. Others may not. I don't care, either way.

But I have, for whatever reason, tried to nail down some kind of definition for myself.

I used to consider it "a means of communication through the creative use of imagination."

And that still works for me.

But I'm going to add to that. "Any creation that reflects its creator's personality."

It becomes art when it becomes personal.

Film certainly applies.

Hello all you other time travelers,
There were more than just a few surprises for me this morning when I hoped on, not only was I enjoying reading what I thought were interesting posts, but I came across a few posts by a person who has the same log in name that I used a few years back
(I am mishkin madness, old log in Mr Blackstock)
I thought ?ha! Check that out, my name must have expired??
I read his post with interest, and thought..
?here is another opinionated git, not bad ideas, but still opinionated?
and what did I see when looking at the date of the post? It?s four years old!
So I thought I would try to log in as blackstock, and I could!

Funny thing is, the ideas are still largely the same concerning film vs art et all.

BUT, I do not know who gave me such ratings! Baby!
So whoever re-posted me, thank you.
I just hope my password was not that easy to discover and they haven?t angered the feminist board.

Archival posts are of value and I don't see what TFL did to get a one rating by someone who has either a 4 or 5 rating, certainly bringing up an old post should not be deemed so negatively.

I don't think anyone else is that concerned about the rating system Alex, it doesn't impose any restrictions on anyone if they have a low rating and I've never heard anyone say; "Who cares about your opinion- you only have one star! [img]tongue.gif[/img] "

Alex has a history of digging up very old posts that everyone has forgotten. He tries to say that they are relevant to today even though they aren't.

Well, My school has an Art Class, which I am currently attending, and i can hand in Short Films as Art Projects (7 art projects for the year) and get a good rating. To me, I classify what I do art, what else would it be?
