Apparently the film Francis Ford Coppola has been working on for the last 15 years (which he says is more ambitious than Apocalypse Now) is based on a city in the future which gets destroyed and which must be rebuilt. It's called Megalopolis.

Prior to September 11th he had shot 20+ hours of footage of New York City (including the WTC). After the attacks he thought he was going to have to can the film. However, he says that it soon dawned on him that 'history had come to his doorstep' and decided it was his duty to continue with the film.

If the script is handled with sensitivity and intelligence then it would be far more worthwhile than say the latest Arnie slice of trash.

Hehe Davis, there are quite a lot of Americans on this board so don't worry about it

Personally, I'd be really interested to see a film with the basis of the Sep 11th attacks, like Titanic played on the love story, but everyone waited patiently for the sinking (dramatic irony!)

Schindlers List could have been a disaster, but it worked out fine. WTC is now going to be a big part of history in the future. Get a film about it in the can whilst you still can.

It may sound unfair on the victims and victims families, but a movie which followed the troubled life of a guy and just as things started to shape up he was killed in the disaster could work as a really good tradegy, like Schindlers List, Titanic etc.

I dunno.

THIS IS RHETORICAL BTW. Two possible story lines for a WTC Film.

1. "WTC CRAZY"
Set to the music of its raining men, our hero burt bozak discovers he is trapped on the 90th floor of the WTC, hes trapped and he knows he is going to die , but can he get laid before he does ? a race against time to find a willing partner

2. "September 11th"

A Harrowing tale of the last 24 hours of Burt Bozak an ordinary american whoes fate was sealed in the 11th of september tragedy. Jsut an ordianry Joe bloggs on his way to work....


Ok which is the more offensive, more in bad taste and why ? and whats wrong with either films >?

Davis I was once from the U.S., then I moved to the Black Lagoon and found it more to my liking.
You can't avoid September 11. It's there. Period. I can't see why making a film about this tragety would be in anyway bad taste. I mean I would consider it homage to make a film to remember it.

A few years down the line and peoples minds will have settled. Bin Laden will be dead, we'll be bombing Egypt and 9/11 will be fair pickings for Hollywood.

No, I actually think it'll be a while before a film based directly on 9/11 events will be possible.
Francis Fords movie might seem a little too close but in a years time I'm sure it'll be OK.
