Oliver Stone totally discrased the Kennedy family with JFK. It was 90% bullshit. I admit it was a good movie but it was fabrications and lies. How the hell could Stone get information of what took place during private conversatiions between the police and witnesses. He made it up!

More on Coppola's film:
Filming was originally scheduled to start in early 2002, but Coppola is working on a post-September 11th rewrite. Charles Lyons of Variety also reports that Coppola has already shot over 30 hours of second unit footage, from both before and after September 11th

Much of JFK was made up, but the most important parts are actually real. Nowadays only fools and people who haven't researched the subject believe Oswald acted alone.

davis,

ah, how that trailer rocked ...

chance,
i think a WTC flick would be in bad taste simply because it is something very close to a lot of people's hearts right now. if your vision didn't fit it would get slated and no doubt your reputation with it.
i think you could only get away with it if you somehow got endorsement from families of those affected, even then you'd get castrated for appearing to cash-in.
plus, i still don't think we know the full facts behind the tragedy, but i guess a personal tragedy film could circumvent that.
how about doing a film where terrorists poison the water supply with chemicals supplied by the west and kill millions ...

Chance, just think about it.
Who'd find a film that makes fun of all these people dying funny or watchable?
JOE: Hey look! There's a man jumping from that burning window on the 200th floor!
PETER: Cool! Look, he's all over that pavement now!
Hardly humour is it.

"Chance, both were as distasteful as each other.
A comedy about the World Trade Center would be the worst thing someone could do.
Give it a shot if you must, I'd be intruiged to see what happened to your reputation "

Surely the first function of a movie is too entertain (anything else is a bonus), and how many people would be entertained by a movie of 11/9? Not many, as someoen pointed out earlier the events are too fresh in the mind, and thousands of families around the world directly felt the effets of that day. It would be insensitive to those families to sell their relatives lifes as entertainment, no matter how sensitively it was done. Does anyone really think that Coppola is subtle enough a director to pull it of? I don't, despite his talents.
