Definitely your most prolific post to date.
That is true Alex. It is perhaps Exposure?s most prolific post to date. Thanks for the compliment. Maybe the fact that I am trying to make it in the film industry in Austin in the same city that Rodriguez made it inspires people. People always wondered how Rodriguez did it 10 years ago when he arrived in Austin. What was his secret? They wondered. How would a 23 year old with $7000 become a Hollywood Player? I too wondered that? And I too wanted to know his secret, and yet the secret was there all along. It was there in his book. You see the real secret is that all you have to do is believe. If you believe then you can accomplish anything. Yes, even miracles. That is what Jesus was saying when he died in the cross. Now I don?t mean to compare myself to him or anyone else. I am who I am and that is what I wanted to be since I was a little boy. I wanted to be a great filmmaker. However, the fact that I was poor and the fact that I didn?t know anyone in the film industry made me believe that this was an impossible dream. So for years I put filmmaking and directing aside. So now that a chance came up I am not going to give up until I make it in the film industry. And Austin is the place to do it. So maybe some of the people in this forum think I am crazy, dumb, na?ve, or stupid. But I am sure others think that I am intelligent, astute, creative, and an all around good person. There will always be people out there that will make fun of people like me and will put a good dream down. Some will be jealous and not understand because they can not believe that someone with little education can accomplish so much. But history tells other wise. Bill Gates (Microsoft) didn?t graduate college nor did Michael Dell (Dell computers). And yet these two individuals are some of the most influential people in the history of computers and they are rich beyond our wildest dreams. They had a vision and they stuck to that vision till the end. Take for example the Right Brother, the inventors of the airplane. The media and the world said it couldn?t be done. And yet within 10 years they had a working prototype that flew in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903. If it wasn?t for them we wouldn?t be able to travel from New York to London in less than 8 hours using the Concord. Imagine traveling to the old world in less than it takes to do a days work. Were these people educated? Yes and no. They didn?t go to college in the traditional sense of the word. They studied all they could about the theories of flight and they were able to fly because they wanted to fly. Now what does that have to do with filmmaking? A lot and I will tell you why? Filmmaking is like flying. You have to learn the forces at work to make it work or you will crash and burn. And yet once you learn you never forget and one day you actually do it and succeed. Now some people would say that this is not real and filmmaking and flying are completely different sciences that don?t interrelate. And yet astronaut Neil Armstrong who traveled to the moon took a film camera with him to record the lunar landscape. So even an astronaut has to be a filmmaker. Yes sir he did. So what does that mean? It means that anyone out there can make films. Maybe they won?t be Oscar material but who cares? What really matters is that one goes for once?s dream because life is short and it would really be sad if one was 80 years old and said? I should have been a great filmmaker? but now I am too old to try.
This guy's a fuckin' star.
Bravo the filth.
At the risk of perpetuating this stupid thread, it was the "Wright" brothers who invented the airplane.
i didnt want to perputrate the post so i tried to delete my post - which failed
and now i forgoten what i deleted - and i have replied - and i have added an extra post on this topic - oh what a vicious circle
hey, I think the Wright brothers invented the aeroplane too!
So you want to be a great filmmaker? The first thing you have to do is make some movies and then you will be a great filmmaker. Don?t you don?t know the truth. The truth is that making films is hard. Anyone who has ever seen filmmaker at work knows that it take an enormous amount of money, time, and dedication to create a motion picture masterpiece. Yes so maybe the world is a rough place to be and noon cares about your dreams, but you should not try to make others people?s dreams come true. You should make them come true for yourself. Yes if you really want to be great you should write a script and sent it to an agent.
