From the specs these things are capable of recording well beyond human hearing, at 50kHz. Still, it means recording at 96kHz will almost be worthwhile (remember Nyquist).

Anyhow, there is an argument to say that extra samples is closer to the analogue, which kind of makes sense, also that A/D convertors work better at faster cycles. My subjective listening seems to agree ... 24/96 sounds better (only just) than 24/48 even though my current mic kit can only resolve up to 20kHz. Strange but true.

Can't wait to see how much this 8000 series costs .... !
