'Passion of Christ' Thread

I cannot classify any movie as "good" that indulges in shameless religious propaganda.

I dont think anyone will mind much if i tell you that you are an idiot. For one thing, how on earth can a film be shameless proganda if everyone that has seen it from the religious bodies are deeply offended? It would seem like whatever the message of this movie is, its not the message they wish to show. Secondly, its not propaganda in the slightest! If this movie is propagranda then Die Hard is propaganda for the NYPD and India Jones is propaganda for archiologists. In other words, it just happens to be a movie about Jesus, its not out there to educate the masses of christs suffering for our sins so we all go to church and worship him.

I'm taking this movie for what I see it-A story.

I don't believe the Bible in one bit, but it's a classic story of retirbution, death, cowardness. If it was set in Roman times with a character with a different name, then no one would be going mental over it.

I once told a girl that Church of England was a 'default' religion in many places in this country and that it was initially created by a shithead who altered his religion to suit his lifestyle.

Well, actually I think that may be a little harsh- c'mon the guy's obviously passionate and after a good religious debate!

Back on topic, having seen the trailer, I won't clamboring to see the flick opening night. Might watch it when it turns up on Channel 4 on a sunday night.

I was brought up church of england (not like i'm super religous or anything) but thats a bloody good point!

Seriously though, I think we are in for a mountain of Christian zealotry and all around religious horseshit when this filthy spectacle of a movie is released. What is it about Christians that compels them to make movies like this? You don't see Muslims making movies of Mohammed, or Jews of Abraham do you? I myself have no intention of being dirtied by this movie and enriching idiots like Mel Gibson. We don't need yet another depiction of a bloodied, beaten-up-and-crucified Jesus H. Christ. This creature DID NOT die for my sins. I want to emphasize just how utterly I reject the message of this movie. Go see it ONLY if you want to be slapped in the face with uplifting emotions like guilt, shame, and weak blooded submission and humiliation - what Christianity has been dumping on the world for the last two thousand years.
