unfortunately, things aren't going so well with ftp connections on my server :-/

I've got a gig or two of available space, but am running offa friends good-will. I'd be unable to help without imposing.

Re: Who is running their own server??

As I understand it, we are talking here about a dedicated server, this is a physical computer assigned to one user. Its owner defines the operating system, hardware configuration and sets all parameters, see the website hostkey.com .
This option guarantees virtually unlimited adaptability to a server or server infrastructure consisting of more physical machines. Dedicated servers are great for large stores and companies with special requirements. This service gives you the most options, but at the same time is the most practical solution.
