I don't know about that. A shit life that comes good, or with an interesting dark side to it are pretty generic narratives.

Yes, my life is still shit, but that's no reason not to make a film about it.
It's all in the execution.
Without misery you'd be denying the world a lot of great writers, musicians and artists.
Hell, an entire musical genre was borne out of misery and suffering, i.e. the Blues.
