Who knows- Tarantino may be made to eat his own words at some point in the future...
CGI is overused- but think of a film like the Two Towers- would have been impossible to achieve without CGI. It's supposed to be used as a film-making tool opposed to a film-making vehicle.
[I didn't realise the Hulk was CGI- I thought it was Wayne Rooney painted green! ]
CGI is not the problem- it's the lazy film-makers who abuse it.

I think CGI has it's place, like any other special effects technique. It should be used sparingly and only when the story calls for something that simply cannot be done by conventional methods.
Basing an entire film around CGI is just plain lazy (George Lucas, I am talking to you!)

All I have to say is this.
An American Werewolf In London
vs.
An American Werewolf In Paris
That's all you need to know about the use of CGI, right there.

Tarantino in The Guardian:
Quentin Tarantino has made a typically outspoken, expletive-ridden attack on the increasing use of CGI in modern movies, describing the practice as "computer game bullshit". Railing at the likes of the two Matrix sequels, which have taken the use of computer-generated special effects to new levels of complexity, the director told Empire magazine he was determined to stick to "old school" movie-making techniques for his own films. "You know, my guys are all real. There's no computer fucking around. I'm sick to death of all that shit. This is old school with fucking cameras. If I'd wanted all that computer game bullshit, I'd have gone home and stuck my dick in my Nintendo."
I totally agree with him. I am sick of the recent abundance of CGI-fested crap. The Hulk is a prime example of CGI gone mad.
I think that nowadays CGI can be used to sugarcoat piss-poor plots and acting. EG: The Matrix.
Give me a decent story from beginning to end with solid acting anyday. EG: Casino
What do you think?
