try a tone ring (o-ring), dont use bog roll coz it just rips, if you tape ya snare bar up it will sound shit, n the tape goes yellow n brakes, so just fiddle with the tight ness of the snare bar n top + bottom skins. it may take a bit but its better than using tape + bog roll coz you'll have to keep replacing that, n if it fuckes up at a gig you'll be shaffted, but dont beleave a word dunks in coff33 says his snare sounds shit (sorry sime but it does) but then each it there own i supose.
