We have the oppurtunity to have a 'DIY PUNK', CD section in our local library.....
The idea is; to make the music more available to audiences that may miss it, but through means that have to do with learning rather than money making, ie our local resource centre!
BUT
will we use it?
will our younger siblings use it??
AND
what bands would you put in it???
I need to come up with lists and costs ASAP, but also need to assure the library that it will be used, and a worthy investment...
The rough catagories are; OLD/CLASSICS - LOCAL - CURRENT(which includes FORIEGN bands) - COMPILATIONS.
There is also ideas for racks for fanzines and a pin board for flyers and also a gig in the library to launch it??!!!
I'm not sure about the last one myself but i need to know what y'all think.
post you comments here.......
REMEMBER, if you suggest any CD's, the point is that there DIY, otherwise it'll just become another genre section..........
KO??
If you want to know more, email me:
[email protected]
cheers,
Lauren.

I reckon it will be a good idea...thing is the people on this board will be more conversant with this kind of stuff...the target will be the kids that arent a part of the (dare I say it...) scene, cos they wont have heard the stuff and are eager to check out new things..after all...most people on here would either download the stuff,or buy it cheaply from one of the distros...maybe some flyers given to the skaters and glue sniffers that hang round town? Not to mention the kids whos parents are encouraging them to "go greebo"
It would work..but dont be put off by the apathy of people on here.

True. It's not aimed at those people who can easily aquire these CD'S....but it does need their support. Trouble is, i don't know the forums that the younger kids use - any ideas?
