I posted a comment at the Johnny Carson website. I met Johnny a couple of different times in the past. He was always cordial and genuinely interested in what people had to say. Just another average Joe really that had a passion for drums, drumming, and skepticism. I'm going to pursue this a little through the "car people" that are currently working within the Tonight Show and people I know at the Skeptics Society of which Johnny was an honorary member. This footage should be released instead of allowing it to "turn to dust" as someone at the Boston Pops mentioned.
What I posted at the website.............
"I had the chance to meet Johnny a couple of times and we had great conversations about drumming in general and eventually Buddy Rich, amongst other things. I was reading at another website about the people that now own the footage of the early tonight shows will not release the Buddy Rich footage so drummers worldwide can share in the love and passion that Johnny and others had for Buddies playing. http://www.jazzlegends.com/article_detail.cfm?a_id=14
I know Johnny would have wanted it this way. Please allow these pieces of footage to be released to the drumming community worldwide. Sincerely yours, Lifetime resident of Chatsworth, Ca. John Stevenson (818) 772-1737"
