    Nice...

On the topic of fave Weck solos...here's mine. This is my first time uploading so let me know if it doesn't work.

The track is from '86 so he's even younger--the music (Special EFX's Formal Invitation from "Slice of Life") is a bit, well, a bit "fuzak" but the solo's pure juice IMO, and the outro is a groove duo is cool.

Nice track there SO. Just the way he plays the hihat is SOOO outragously wecklish (know what i mean?). The bongo player's having a good time! Christ, thats one fretless bass and a half.

I reckon this was still in his "play like Gadd" mode in his younger years - there's quite a few Gaddish grooves (there's a sambaish thing thats almost identical to the one at the end of Aja).

The solo bits are wicked as well.

Don't know Steve, but I can never get to much of the bass slide coming out of the drum solo. Anthony is the man...

Yeah, Eyewitness, Weckl at his best. This and Bill Connors' Step It. Back when Weck had his own sound with those 8" and 10" toms. It's refreshing to hear him on some decent tunes for a change.

I heard that Special EFX tune on the radio like a year ago, I was flipping channels in my car and I thought I heard a ride cymbal bell and toms (a rarity for radio these days) and I flipped back and thought this has to be Weckl. Sure enough the solo removed all doubt.

This was some time ago, but I remember Wek commenting that he felt the Eyewitness album as some of his best recorded work. Too bad there aren't any live recordings of him with the Brecker Brothers when he subbed for Chambers on some dates. The Chicagoland show was nothing short of brilliant.

If nobody minds, I'll just disagree with that. Ok? Ok.

I would of loved to see him at home in Chicago espically in the late 80's/early 90's. I just saw him a couple months ago in Spring field (IL) and had him sign my copy of Public Access, he looked at it kinda weird and chuckled almost like he didn't remeber recording it. But I seriously doubt that.

PS Everyone keeps talkin about Mama Chola which is def a cool tune but what about track 3 Kamarica, good shit on there too.
