Here is a couple of pop songs, the first by a spanish trio named Mecano from the 80s, Danny Gottlieb is responsible for the drum track on this, very groovy but very cool playing for a pop track, you don't hear it like this anymore in pop. The track is called "el lago artificial"

The second is Vinnie playing on a really slow ballad by Alejandro Sanz named Al Olvido Invito Yo from his latest album, check out how the fills build up the intensity of the song and how he shuffles some of the 8th notes of the beat for an effect which pushes the groove along helping balance it out with the slow tempo
