In the past years, on this board, we've been very critical about the Readers' polls from some well-known magazines. Very often, we were surprised at the results.
And even though most of us, including myself, hate contests and comparing drummers of different styles or eras, here is a proposal to all HOD members:
In the next two weeks, let's choose our favorite drummers in the following categories. Then, on Sunday, January 29, I will post the winners in each of these categories:
When you post your choice, please just put the number of each category before each name.
Here we go:
1) Your all-time favorite drummer.
2) Best big band drummer. (all eras)
3) Best studio drummer.
4) Best 40s, 50s drummer.
5) Best Progressive rock drummer.
6) Best all-around jazz drummer.
7) Best Latin drummer.
8) Best heavy rock drummer.
9) Best new jazz drummer (1995 to 2005).
10) Best overall Pop drummer.
11) Best Groove drummer.
11) Most popular drummer.
12) Most underrated drummer.
13) Most lovable drummer.
14) Drummer who influenced you the most in your playing.
15) Three people in the drum industry who, you think made a big difference in your lives when learning drums.
(teachers, drum industry people, etc)
Good luck... Poll results on January 29.
