    Cool

    Hi people

I'm thinking about investing in a small secondary snare drum to position to the left of my hi-hat. I'll be playing a lot of drum and bass, R &B, Hip hop grooves so it has to really cut through.

I think a metal drum is the way to go. I've been looking around and noticed the Pearl Firecracker and the Gretsch Black Hawk. There's a lot of choices out there, can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks again

I've messed around with the Pearl Firecracker and think they're cool. Good price. Solid. I don't care for the Grestch offering though. another to look at is DW. They makes a 10" that isn't too $$$, but I haven't heard one.

    Thanks Danny!

Yeah, the Firecrackers sure look nice. And you mentioned the dws. I've seen their "Wacky" range, maple snare drums measuring 6 x 10 in a wide range of crazy colours. Anyone been impressed by these models?

Again, any input will be appreciated!

Does it necessarily have to be in those sizes(13*7 etc?).

Myself I'd go with either a piccolo or a soprano snare. Tama makes sum called "Power Metal" with 4 different shells(aluminum, brass, bronze and something else?). Also comes in different sizes, i'm gonna purchase the 4*14($234) soon myself=

    Cool

    Hi guys,

I guess I just have a thing for tiny snare drums. I used to own a maple Pearl Sopranino (10 x 4 i think) but it just wasn't cutting through. I'm thinking of mounting the drum on my hi-hat stand using an ISS mount or similar - so a tiny one may be beneficial.

I'm gravitating towards the Firecracker. I've seen a gorgeous DW in vermillion pink (www.poole-percussion.com) but haven't got the cash. Damn you Mr. Dw, seducing me with your vermillion! forums

    Thanks for the replies!

Vermillion? Where did that come from? I meant serpentine. And here's a pic to prove it. Isn't she lovely ladies and gentleman? -
