OK... i know that Andy Newmark, Harvey Mason, & Charley Drayton[?] played drums on the Seal CD w "Kiss fr a Rose" & "Don't Cry" [which has a KILLER groove in 6-or-12/8, however u prefer to ct it]...

'?' is; which drummer is playing on that particular track ["Don't Cry"]?... dam* liner notes outta the CD doesn't list individual tracks' credits... lumps it all together in 1 paragraph...

Anyone know the answer to this one? Randy, perhaps?!

Abe Jnr is on that disc too I think. As to who? Dunno, Trevor Horn produced that and the first Seal so it could be pieced together, my guess would be Drayton or Newmark.

I'm not sure, but I think it could be the amazing British player, Ian Thomas who played on Seals first album. Ian is a stalwart of the british jazz and session scene. He's the most amazing player and a really lovely bloke too.

I went and relistened to the track, the verses and chorsu sound like Newmark, but the ride out at the end of the tune has characteristics of Mason, the splash cymbals, light buzz roll.....But the bell pattern on the ride is somethig that Newmark does.
Trevor Horn is known for splicing and doing wild production, look at Frankie Goes To Hollywood, amazing disc, the first Art of Noise(he was a member) cd, of course the big comeback YES disc...

Yeah, Trev's production is pure genius... it's long been da SCHIDD...
My guess was that it was Mason, then Newmark, then maybe a little bit of both AW

One of Seal's drummers was Earl Harvin from North Texas State here in the Dallas area. (which is where I live). I'm not sure why he's not more known than he is. He plays traditional jazz (as little as I know about it) better than anyone I've seen in this area, and he grooves like crazy.

Yeah, Earl does throw down. He was doing a few gigs around Seattle about a year ago and he was doin' it. Serious groove! He played with some musicians whose music i didn't care for too much, well, it didn't really hit me, but his playing was spot on.
