A topic was already started but I wanted to go ahead and post on behalf of TheRunaways.com. Sandy did indeed pass away a few hours ago and we have updated the front page to let everybody know. I really don't have the words at the moment to say something, I may later, but please feel free to post your memories, stories, condolences or the like.
Thank you for all of your support the last few months. It meant a lot to a lot of people.
Chrys

My name is Brian Lucey. I have been Shooting pictures of The Runaways and all the ladies in their solo efforts for the past 29 years. The news of Sandy's passing was a strong hit to the stomach. Some people in our lives seem to just live forever and we carry that feeling in our hearts because of all the wonderful memories that person has given us. It is so easy to feel angry at this time. Why was someone so special taken from us so soon? I wish i had the answer. I can tell you that we have the gift of her music and we can share that gift with our children and our friends and that will give Sandy the ultimate tribute. I have posted a short story about Sandy on Joans official website. Please read it and think of all the great memories this talented artist has given you. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
Peace be with you Sandy....

Rest in peace Sandy. I wish all of Sandy's family and friends all the best in their time of sorry. I'm pretty numb and morose right now so, that's about all can muster up after staring at the screen for 5 minutes. I'm still a little shell shocked.

Rest In Peace, Sandy
I have been a Runaways fan since 1977 and esp. Sandy was my hero. Her drumming on the albums and appereance of band photoshootings.
I wanna wish all family and friends all the best in the tough times! Support each other in this big loss.
Love,
Sammy, Rotterdam Holland

Wow. This is truly sad news. Although I had not seen Sandy in years having known her since she was 16 this is just so hard to grasp.
I have not posted here in years, either... having left Los Angleles 2 years ago I feel so out of touch with my past.
I worked so closely with Sandy for those first 2 years the band was together, after that we would occasionally bump into each other.
I am rarely at a loss for words, but this had done it.
We are all fortunate to have known Sandy, either personally or known her reputation as a ground-breaking musician. We can always look back at the photos and listen to the recordings and wish things were different.
I am sad, but I am comforted somewhat by having spent time with Sandy and for having known her.
She would not have wanted this to be a time for tears.
