Reviews of the John Barnes EP 3 Yellows make black have been coming through.
First up was the Electronic Dessert from Sweden
http://www.electronicdesert.com/ed/d...ntReviewID=266
Then there was Norman Records who said this
Anyone remember John Barnes' ex England Soccer stars 'rap' in the New Order footie song some years ago. Its the worst rapping you've ever heard..... it was well funny. Thus I'm shocked that he's released a 3" CD with pictures of daisys on it. What's going on, did someone spike my brew??? Oh on closer inspection of the sleeve notes I can see that John Barnes is actually one Sam Arnold formerly of Mountain Men Anonymous and not the afforementiond Lucazade Sport golden boy. This starts off almost folkie with acoustic guitar and then the second track is totally unexpected, absolutley gorgeous classical strings fuse with some great Squarepusher-esqe jungle breaks to create a kind of folktronic bliss that's comparable to Frog Pocket. Some great electronica on here that will appeal to Static Caravan / Cactus Island Heads. Also on the No Ground label is a hybrid CD from Fickle And HL. This live recording is an edit that will play on a normal stereo and then there is a mp3 of the full show. This is experimental ambient electronics which is both strange and noisy at times. Check these out peeps.
Lovely thanks Ant for those words
Next up is Textura a great little site from Canada Which had things to say which can be seen here
