Record Labels Ideas for record labels etc

Hi All
firstly here is a link to a article on a exhibition I have at the moment.

2. It's great that people are talking about record release idea's on the Newport scene!?! How about us all consolidating this into a proper compilation release.
A sort of Collaboration between all our small labels. With cost contributions from all involved.

When I say proper I don't mean to devalue our releases but something that is a pressed cd not a cdr and has has a nice digi pack. etc etc.
Anyway lets start emailing about it and posting here.

That exhibition looks cool!

A proper comp is a great idea.. we need to properly get together + organise it, people have various + dispirate plans/ideas I think! ... proper nice pressed cd indeed would be superb...

some friends of mine are properly working on starting up a record label & are interested in putting out a newport compilation at some point... so we should probably join forces all round really...

yeah, let's do it!

I think we owe it to our selves to put some finances together and put something out.
If everyone could pull together with this it would be nice.

I will email some of my ideas to you all tomorrow and if everyone else either posts here or email each other.
We can get it going.

I like the idea of Lathe Cut records as well.
But Vinyl is becoming difficult for people annoyingly. I can't speak I have never had the time to get around to getting a new record deck for years now despite having loads of records and prefering the sound off them.
Oh Well.
Anybody know of the best places to get a cd pressed then? and cheap place for artwork.
I guess we are looking at a minimum 1000 cd's
Any more thoughts.

I do remember finding a place that can produce scented CDs, which is a bit of gimmicry that I'd like to use one day, but not for this I suppose [img]smile.gif[/img]

Any idea about the cover/graphic design? Chi has expressed an interest in doing this...

It could be, But more importantly I think it would be nice to get a cd pressed and out there for ourselves.
Recently I bought David Sylvian's Blemish album which came in a really nice digipack sleeve. I would like to do that.
I was also thinking that we should get contributions from alot of the people in this weird 'scene' of ours involved some people don't have access to the website.
I am going to try and track down some costs ask chris etc.. once I have found them I will post them here then depending on how many people are involved will depend how much it costs.
