I'm so glad that Matt Freeman went back to Rancid after playing with Social Distortion for a few months... Great guy, great musician, but he was no one to be a permanent member of Social Distortion.

Matt Freeman could NOT sing to save his life and you need to be a powerful back-up vocalist for Social Distortion because of the 3-part vocal harmonies with Ness and Wickersham. Plus Brent's style fits Social Distortion like a glove along with the whole up-right bass.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">What the fuck does Matt Freeman have to do with Lar's speaker stack? I mean unless Matt stole them from Mike before he left. Now that would be funny even if he "could NOT sing to save his life".

Ive listened to every social d record many of times and ive still yet to hear how good brent is...maybe thats because he hasn't played on any social d records. lol. Just given you

I remember seeing Social D a few times when Matt was playing with him, and i could kinda hear his rancid style of playing bass creeping into social d...im not saying it sounded bad or anything, but I could kinda hear it.

Speaking of Skellis, I thought this was interesting when I saw the Stray Cats last year....

Cheers to Lars for saluting the Almighty Social Distortion!
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">you are high off your ass if you think brent is a better bassist. i mean sure they are both really great. but listen to a social d record and listen to a rancid record...you can tell the difference easily

That is such a cool pic Deadliner! I remember when you posted before and Geekgirl pointed out that the cabinets and the guitar tech in the background came from Social D. That's what made me think that Rancid may have bought/or borrowed from social d as well. Lars definately is a fan though so who knows. I like the Marshall nameplate that he has changed to say Lars.

Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio also mentioned in an interview that the first record he ever really got obsessed with was mommy's little monster.

There was a picture in skratch magazine or some zine 8 or 9 years ago and it shows matt skiba wearing a Mike Ness (solo)shirt...
