Personally I think it's just about friends throughout life. I've had so many that were close to me, but when I'd actually take a look at it, they were only there because of what I could do for them. When they need me, they were right there, but when I needed them, they'd be no where to be found. Eventually you get fed up with giving a shit about them or even working so hard to remain friends, you say fuck it, and you just leave them far behind.
Or leave them to fall behind....depending on what you think the lyrics to the song are. Lol, damnit we need another version for some clarity!

I like the "you shake my hand while you're pissing on my leg" To me, that means the one who says
they care about you, well, their actions say differently!!
Yeah, its probably about the music business, or maybe just business in general. There are alot of people who will become "friends" with famous people to go into business with them, but in reality are only trying to screw them over. I'm sure Mike's run into a couple over his career....

For those interested, i converted the FLAC files to MP3. i simply used a free converter so i did nothing fancy to the conversion. Still sounds good to me.
