Footprints on My Ceiling

Maybe somebody can help me out. What does "Footprints on My Ceiling" mean? I don't mean the song, just those words. I know once somebody explains it, it'll seem obvious, but right now, I'm just completely missing it. I guess I'm just dense like that. Thanks.

I think it maybe soemthing related to when your g/f has gone or something, and your laying in bed just daydreaming, looking at the ceiling. Maybe he's seeing footprints of her leaving. Just my guess, but I know I've laid in bed over love troubles before and just stared at the ceiling.

We got a proverb here in germany: An die Decke gehen, it means to go on the ceiling or walk on the ceiling. The meaning is to rev up or to explode.. if you've got footprints on the ceiling it could mean that the other blowed one's top... maybe I hope you understand what I want to say.

I was told it means that Homeland Security will be sending the "gumshoes" to everyones home and they will tread all over it to find some shit to bust you with. Yeah, that's the ticket.
