My girl friend actually asked Mike about the meaning of the song and he said, "It's about two emotionally retarted people that are trying to make it work."
Take that for what you will, it just confused the hell outta me.

Got woken up this morning by my clock radio playing "Dancing on the ceiling" by Lionel Ritchie.
Ruined my day.
Had to think about it when I listened to "Footsteps on the ceiling" later on.
Came to the conclusion that ceilings, as opposed to other parts of houses like "chimneys" or "gutterings", for example, have had a pretty good go in the music industry due to rhyming with "feelings".
Don't quote me on that.

"Who left MURF THE SURF on MY ceiling? The man with the googoo eyes!"
~Iggy Pop
I like the idea about "climbing the walls" and going a little crazy over love and relationships. I also like that you can get so many meanings from the song--it's like a painting, photograph or movie.
Those who are on coffee, speed or other, start listing all the songs that have ceiling and feeling rhyming. C'mon!
