You both need to read The Dirt, man. It is written from taped interviews with the band so it is totally from their own mouths and not some warped journo trying to exaggerate things. All Bob Deal does is rant about aliens and his fucking death wishes, and guns!
I'm not slagging off the Crue, I'm just saying that the Crue had lot more luck than busniess accumen for the most part but you can see how much Nikki has changed in recent years and realised he is running a business.

dude, i loved The Dirt and recommend it to anyone who wants to read a good music related book but you must have forgotten that since it's release The Crue has come out and said that they made a lot of the stuff up in the book. when questioned about it Nikki's reply was "we couldn't really remember what actually happened cos we were so fucked up all of the time" so it might not be some warped journo trying to exaggerate things, just some warped over-egoed band trying to exaggerate things. either way, still an excellent read.
another good book is aerosmith's walk this way.
